The Children’s Place Dress Outfits & the Dress Twirl

Posted on: February 23, 2010 @ 3:25 pm     No Comments »

It dawned on me last week that I neglected to post photos of my children and the little video I did of our daughter’s dress twirl with my review of The Children’s Place New Spring Dress Clothes.Sorry about that, that’s what I get for scheduling posts and forgetting part of it!

P.S. Excuse the boxes in the background, we are packing up stuff to giveaway and to put in storage.

Here is a photo of two of my boys:

Photos and video are the property of Theresa Gould.

As you can see, we are enjoying the outfits! For more information about the dress clothes, visit www.ChildrensPlace.com

Thanks to The Children’s Place for New Spring Outfits

Posted on: February 18, 2010 @ 8:00 am     1 Comment »

Thanks to our PR rep, Gabby and to The Children’s Place for the three dressy outfits they sent for me to review! Talk about being gobsmacked! How very generous of them! Now I get to show you how these outfits that I posted about last week in my post about their Facebook giveaway and their Spring Dressy Sale look on my little sweethearts. You should have seen how excited my daughter was! She was very tickled that her new dress was pink and that she could twirl in it! She is definitely a fashionista in the making. ;-) (P.S. I didn’t get photos of them yet)

For the boys, we received two linen dress shirts with a matching knit vest. The first being the Classic ‘n Cool for our youngest son – Argyle Sweater Vest and lavender/purple Linen Shirt. The vest retails for $19.50 and the shirt $16.50.

For our older son, it was the Prepped ‘n Perfect – Argyle Sweater Vest and yellow Linen Shirt. Both retail for the same amount as the smaller size, $19.50 for the vest and $16.50 for the shirt.

For our daughter, we received a pink, green and white sun dress called Stylin’ Sunshine Girl – Pleated Dress. It retails for $29.50.

These items washed up really well with minimal shrinkage, but to be on the safe side in the second washing of my daughter’s dress, I hung it dry or at least tumble dry it.

For more information about The Children’s Place Spring Dressy Clothes, please visit the red links above or www.childrensplace.com They make beautiful clothes that last.

Popular Mechanics and Old Navy have a Kids Can Do Great Things Design Contest coming up that you all might be interested in for your children. Just imagine being able to win a shopping spree and have your child’s art work featured on the cover of Popular Mechanics! Sounds like fun to me!

Here’s the news we received Popular Mechanics:

Popular Mechanics, the brand that has long inspired adults with its hands-on explanations of the modern world, will now also be accessible to the next generation of curious minds. The magazine has partnered with Old Navy to develop a line of limited-edition T-shirts for infants, toddlers and kids. Featuring four designs inspired by vintage, transportation-themed Popular Mechanics cover art, the collection will be available in Old Navy stores nationwide and at oldnavy.com in mid-January. T-shirts will be priced between $10.50-$12.50 each.

Popular Mechanics and Old Navy are also inviting kids up to the age of 12 to share their own vision of the future of transportation with the Kids Can Do Great Things Design Contest. Throughout its 100-plus year history, Popular Mechanics has captured the excitement and promise of new transportation technology in its cover images. The Kids Can Do Great Things Design Contest invites kids to create an original design for a Popular Mechanics cover with this same theme. Entry forms will be available in stores nationwide starting February 5. The winner will receive a $500 shopping spree at Old Navy and have his or her design featured in an upcoming issue of Popular Mechanics. The magazine will also donate $500 on the winner’s behalf towards FIRST Robotics, a non-profit organization that furthers science education.

“With this new collection of T-shirts at Old Navy, parents can now share the brand they already know and love with their kids in a fun, inspiring way,” said Glen Ellen Brown, vice president, Hearst Brand Development. “Popular Mechanics has always been about understanding the modern world and envisioning the future. Our partnership with Old Navy perfectly captures that spirit and allows us to introduce it to a new generation of future inventors, engineers and enthusiasts.”

From its inception, Popular Mechanics has always encouraged curious minds and creative innovation. The Kids Can Do Great Things Design Contest broadens this mission through a creative experience that will reach a whole new generation of Popular Mechanics loyalists. A gallery of Popular Mechanics covers from the past 100 years is available at popularmechanics.com/marketing/covers.

Ibex Introduces Limited Edition Kid’s Line

Posted on: January 14, 2010 @ 8:00 am     1 Comment »

We were privileged to receive a size large (12) Deep Rose colored Kid’s Hooded Indie from Ibex to review. It will be returned, but my girls enjoyed trying it on and being my review helpers. When I opened the package, I was really surprised at how lightweight the hoodie is and how thin the material felt for being made of wool. Because of its lightweight, it truly is easier to layer without the bulk of heavy clothing. (18.5 micron wool)

I had my 9-year-old and almost 11-year-old daughters try on the hoodie to see how comfortable it was, how the fabric felt to them, if it kept them warm or not. They each wore a t-shirt beneath the hoodie. Both of them said they liked the hoodie and that it was very nice. They said that it was really warm and comfortable. As a matter of fact, my younger daughter didn’t want to keep it on as long as I wanted her to because she was too warm. So Ibex is right in that it does retain heat.

We didn’t have a clue as to what the holes in the sleeves were for until we visited Ibexwear.com and saw their model posing with their thumbs through them. My older daughter commented, “That’s what those holes are for and why the sleeves were so long on me. They’re to help keep my hands warmer.”

The hoodie does seem to pick up link easily. My girls didn’t have the hoodie on very long and I wouldn’t let them do much in them since it doesn’t belong to us, but it did pick up lint and we don’t have any pets!

One thing I almost missed and isn’t that important, just cute. There is a little Ibex applique on right hand sleeve as seen in this photo.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you how it washes up, but it is suppose to be machine washable. Amazing for a wool product. Wool is known to be durable, but again, I cannot tell you how the hoodie holds up over time since this product will be returned. The hoodie is made in the USA of New Zealand Merino. Just reading the tags makes me want to buy them!

The Ibex Limited Edition Kid’s Line is available for $72 – $95 at Ibexwear.com.

I’ve purchased several NEST items for my daughter on Hautelook before and have been absolutely thrilled with every piece. The clothes are comfortable, very high quality, and look totally adorable on my kid! (If I do say so myself!)

Some of their items are made to mix and match so you can get several different outfits out of just a few pieces. And they boys clothing really sets the standard. Even though I don’t have a boy, I’m pretty opinionated about little boy’s clothing and I must say, I usually hate all of it. However NEST has really found the perfect balance between little boy and adult. It’s grownup style without looking to grownup. You know what I mean? Well, you’ll just have to take my word for it!

Give the Gift of Love from Krochet Kids

Posted on: December 11, 2009 @ 11:00 am     No Comments »

waldo.female

There are only a couple of days left to help out this socially conscious non-profit organization – Krochet Kids. I discovered this week that our children have outgrown many of the hats we have. Then as I was preparing this post I decided to go ahead and order two of these Krochet Kids’ hats. I also desired to share with all of you that I want to be a part of what they are doing. What better way to give this Christmas than to get behind organizations who are trying to make the world a better place?

Each of the hats are handcrafted and even include a tag signed by the creator. The hats are 100% acrylic or an acrylic/wool blend and come in several styles and colors. Most of the hats are one-size-fits-all, but they do have two styles specifically for children ages 2-6 – Kids Grom and Kids Scoop.
danoches.chestershire

This holiday season Krochet Kids International (KKI) are asking for your help on December 7th -14th to Give the Gift of Love to impoverished women in Ugunda. These women—with the help of a team of young Americans who taught them how to crochet—are working to create and maintain sustainable economic development programs that support holistic growth of their community and the individuals within their community. The Krochet Kids have worked continuously to help women rise above poverty and offer a well-made one of a kind crochet hat to socially minded individuals hoping to change the world for the better. During the week of December 7th Krochet Kids are asking communities to become advocates for these women in help them in activating and achieving their goal.
inside Labels 2

“The goal is to sell over 2,000 hats the week of December 7th and 14th, “Kohl Crecelius Founder of KKI explains. “Krochet Kids International was born out of our love for crocheting and our desire to make a difference in this world. Our goal is to challenge everyone to dream big with us and help make a difference.”

The work of KKi is really three-fold:
• Creation of jobs
• Awesome products
• Social investment and change

As of this writing, Krochet Kids is at the 1,000 mark, so let’s help them reach that 2,000 goal by the end of Monday, December 14, 2009. Give the gift of Love from KrochetKids.org
