The boys LilAviator clothing is just as cute! Gotta love the darker colors for active little boys who can’t stay away from the dirt with their little cars and trucks. Sorry, images at Kushies are copyrighted so I can only provide you with the links:

Kushies has other items on sale too, so be sure to look around a bit more if you don’t find anything you like in the Funky Flowers and LilAviator collections. I discovered they have organic pack ‘n play sheets that I am interested in, but they are not on sale. They are only a little bit more expensive than regular pack ‘n pack. I have it on my mental list of things to buy before our new baby is born.

Luv My Lolly

Posted on: December 31, 2009 @ 8:00 am     2 Comments »

Are you looking for something different and stylish for your kids? Luv My Lolly is a new company featuring cute t-shirts and onesies. The owners are moms correction, aunties :-) and know how hard it is to find contemporary items for kids.

Luv My Lolly says,

Lolly specializes in stylish AMERICAN-MADE onesies and t’s for children ages 0-6 years.  Most of our designs and garments are UNISEX. We offer 100% sustainable Organic cotton options as well. All our products are printed with safe lead free inks. We like to call it healthy apparel.

Our goal is to bring stylish, original artwork to you. Each design is hand drawn and we often feature local guest artists with limited edition designs and prints. These artists will conceptualize, design and create their garment completely and we will have a complete bio with links to their website/works and blogs. We want to help propel their talents and provide them a blank canvas to create with. We donate a percentage of our featured artist shirts to www.americansforthearts.org because supporting the arts is an important cause to us!

Luv My Lolly offers unique gift wrapping that includes shrink wrapping in the form of a huge lollipop! This service includes a handwritten note on a special Lolly card. They only ship to the USA and Canada, so be sure to make note of that.

For more information about the owners, artist behind the designs and additional product info, please visit www.LuvMyLolly.com

“Blinged-Out” Baby Onesies by Too Hot Tot Bling

Posted on: November 02, 2009 @ 8:00 am     No Comments »

036-2Do you have any baby showers coming up or wee ones to buy gifts for? Then we may have just found the perfect thing for those in need of some fresh input on what to buy. “Blinged-Out” Baby Onesies. These customized onesies are made to order by a Mom and Grandma, Stephanie Kalfus.

Each onesie is very soft, high quality, as Carter’s is a well known brand that endures many washings and is made of 100% cotton. The onesies may be purchased in either short sleeve or long sleeve and there is a slight difference in price in the longer sleeved onesie. The customization is adorable, as you will note from the photo samples.

CIMG4677The detail and designs are far to many to feature in a single blog post, so at the end I have some links that will provide you with additional resources and lead you to a slide show to reveal the vast variety and detail Mrs. Kalfus puts into her work. Too Hot Tot Bling is a great company and these onesies would make great gift ideas for the upcoming holidays or for birthdays.

CIMG4075

2888303403Each onesie also comes with a beautiful drawstring organza bag – pink or blue are very popular colors for gift items. Aren’t they sweet? The children and the onesies!

Once Upon a Child

Posted on: September 29, 2009 @ 9:00 am     1 Comment »

There’s nothing more frustrating than paying a lot of money for a child’s outfit that will only be worn a few times.  If you’re like me, you just can’t afford to do that.  That’s why I love Once Upon a Child.  Once Upon a Child is a consignment shop for children from sizes newborn to 16.  They sell more items than just clothes, such as toys, furniture, and baby gear.  You can sell your gently used items to them and buy other’s gently used things.  Items must be less than 5 years old and meet all safety standards (the staff checks everything out before buying/selling).  All stores have been provided with safety and recall training, so you don’t have to worry about unknowingly purchasing something that is unsafe.

pTRU1-5980064regI found this cute little monster costume at Babies R Us last week.  It was $20, which was fair considering my daughter could wear it this year and my son could wear it next year.  I just didn’t want to pay that much for a Halloween costume, so I decided to check out Once Upon a Child.  Lo and behold, they had a costume that was nearly identical for $6.50!  That’s less than 1/3 of the original price.  I also found a Baby Bjorn baby carrier for $25 (they normally cost around $70).  Both items were in great condition.

We’re all pinching pennies these days.  My advice is to check out consignment shops for name brand items; let someone else pay full price.  You can even make a few bucks by selling your stuff.  It’s a win-win situation.

Bonjour Bambino

Posted on: September 23, 2009 @ 8:00 am     No Comments »

1163611274569889545709
You don’t have to be blessed to speak a second, third or even fourth language to appreciate these onesies from Bonjour Bambino. Mary Powaga-Anderson has a passion to encourage multi-lingual homes with a bit of fashion culture through printed terms of endearment on baby onesies. Currently she has French, Spanish, and Italian sayings on white colored onesies. The onesies are 100% cotton and come in sizes: 3-6 months and 6-12 months. The style choices include long sleeves and short sleeves. 1163872615990-1966577277

I love the saying on the Italian onesie “Dolce Amore” meaning “Sweet Love”, while presenting a line drawing of a chocolate cupcake. Most women love chocolate and Mrs. Anderson shares that Italians love candy, so there you have it…share your love of sweets with your baby via a new onesie! 1207796710218-1546524661

The French onesies have three different sayings: “Mon Petite Amour” meaning My Little Love, “Mon Petite Chou” meaning My Little Cabbage, and “Mon Petite Pois” meaning My Little Pea. Bonjour Bambino has made these baby onesies very cute and attractively designed.11638713161951635779297

Finally, the Spanish onesies come in the following: “Mi Angelita” which means My Angel, “Mi Diablito” which means My Devil (not sure I like this one) and “Tengo Hambre” which means I’m Hungry. We all have had very hungry little people in our homes and can appreciate that saying. 1163872105522-277061998

For those wishing to enhance their bambino’s wardrobe with multiculturalism, you may purchase these linguistic onesies at http://www.shop.bonjourbambino.com/main.sc. 1163871393226-1550481611

Do De Da: Homegrown Children’s Tees

Posted on: August 31, 2009 @ 12:00 pm     1 Comment »

Recently I discovered a little company (run by 3 stylish moms who just happen to be sisters) called Do De Da that puts a cute new spin on the infant onesie/toddler t-shirt!

HGIsabelPumpkinCapturing the innocence and wholesomeness of childhood with designs straight from the garden and their own kitchens, these super-soft, super-comfy shirts have a bit of a retro vibe that will warm the heart of everyone your baby meets! Two lines are available–Homebaked, with 9 different bakery-themed styles, and Homegrown, with a dozen garden-fresh choices–and each short-sleeved, 100% Organic Cotton shirt is available in sizes from 6 months to 5/6T at a price of $24.00 (not including shipping).

I ask you: with fall just around the corner, who could resist a little pumpkin like this?

Sparewear: A Diaper Bag Must-Have

Posted on: May 23, 2009 @ 12:00 pm     No Comments »

sparewear

Every new mother knows, baby is bound to need a change of clothes most desperately just when it’s least convenient–at the mall, in a restaurant, or on your way to introduce the little darling to friends or family you rarely see. Often, parents are reduced to packing half the baby’s closet into the diaper bag in an effort to stave off disaster, eventually resulting in a jumble of mismatched clothing that takes up too much space and weighs you down.

Enter Sparewear! Neatly packed into sleek, travel-friendly pouches, each complete outfit is the perfect “pack and forget” addition to your diaper bag or your child’s daycare/preschool cubby. Many sets feature both a long- and short-sleeved top, and all include comfy, coordinating pants and a travel case designed to hold the dirty duds until you make it home. Each set is sized to cover you for a full six months (or longer for toddlers up to 4T), so you’re sure to get your money’s worth, too!

To start shopping, visit Spareware’s online storefront, where you can find their full range of products, specials, and free everyday shipping.

SAVE GREEN AND BE GREEN

Green products are typically associated with being pricey, but in many cases they’re cheaper than their conventional counterparts in the long-run. Whether it’s from using less water through use of a low-flow showerhead, or cutting back on energy consumption through solar-powered devices, the green products sold at Sustain Stores can help customers save money, and while they’re at it, the environment.

Shoppers at www.sustainstores.com will find eco-friendly products for every facet of their life, in Kitchen & Bath, Home & Garden, Personal & Health, Baby & Kids and Energy & Water categories. But Sustain is more than an online store, it’s also a place to learn about the benefits of living sustainably.

Sustain co-creators, brothers Tim and Mark Appleberry, know that some companies falsely claim to be eco-friendly, so they’ve decided to independently verify all claims before selling a product. Once Sustain has verified a company’s claim, one or more of the icons below will be posted on that product’s page:

“Our number one goal is to supply customers with the information and tools necessary to make sustainable choices and purchases,” said Sustain CEO Mark Appleberry. “The last thing we’d want is a customer to make a purchase and then find out the company had lied about their eco-friendliness. By independently verifying claims, customers can make purchases with confidence”

Some of the environmentally- and wallet-friendly-products available on www.sustainstores.com:

Evolve Roadrunner Optimized Flow Shower Head • $39.95
Designed to delight, it won’t feel like nearly one gallon of water is being saved for every minute in the shower. Appealing design, wide coverage spray pattern, solid brass fittings, anti-clog spray nozzles and integrated ShowerStart technology. Estimated $230 yearly utility savings, 7,665 gallons yearly water savings.

PowerCost Wireless Energy Monitor™ • $109
The PowerCost Monitor™ is a home energy monitor that shows a household’s electricity consumption. The PowerCost Monitor’s smart technology shows energy usage in simple terms—dollars and cents as well as in kilowatt hours. Tests have proven that householders who use real-time feedback can reduce electricity use by as much as 5% to 20%.

Charlie’s Soap Laundry Powder • $15.49
Charlie’s Soap 3 lbs. bag of laundry powder can do up to 80 full wash loads. That’s just pennies per load. Hypoallergenic means it leaves no residue and is perfect for babies and those who have sensitive skin. Laundry powder dissolves completely and is biodegradable. Front-loader/HE compatible.

Sustain Greener Than You Snap-up and Tee • $12
Baby Snap-up and Tee are made in the USA of soft, organic cotton using no-impact dyes, and they’re as comfortable as they are cute. Text on back: “I’m greener than you…” Bodysuit available in 0-3m, 3-6m, 6-12m, 12-18m and 18-24m. Tee available in children’s sizes 2-6.

onesiefrontlr

Sustain also created a blog at http://sustainblog.wordpress.com, where employees share the latest in eco-trends, dish on new arrivals and review products in even further detail. For instance, they recently posted about the downfalls of using plastic bottles and the excessive waste they cause, plus provided in-depth reviews of two reusable containers they sell on the site as alternatives. The blog will also serve as a platform for guest posts from industry leaders and manufacturers of the best in eco-friendly products.

Visit www.sustainstores.com to view their selection of sustainable products, or stop by Sustain’s new retail store in Louisville, KY.
