Animal Cable Clips

Posted on: January 01, 2010 @ 1:00 pm     No Comments »

These cute little Animal Cable Clips would make great gift toppers or stocking stuffers if you are starting your Christmas shopping for 2010 during the after Christmas sales, which is something I did for the longest time.

What’s special about these Animal Clips?

  • All-purpose cable holders
  • Adds personality and charm to any dull workspace.
  • Organizes your cables thereby protecting your equipment
  • Hook and loop attachment for versatility.
  • 30 designs to choose from.
  • Kids love them! A great way to make your kids organize their gadgets.
  • Can be used for USB flash drives, cables, ear bud headphones, etc…
  • Easily removable

I have to agree that kids love them, especially almost two-year-olds who tend to find everything and anything. A certain almost two-year-old took our animal cable clips off the desk where they were “managing” some off our office equipment cables. We have yet to put them back up. They were definitely working at holding three cable cords, until he found them though. My husband thought thicker cables work better. For example, our phone cords were too thin and the animal’s mouth did not “bite” down hard enough to hold the wires in place.

These nifty little critters are very inexpensive costing only 55 cents for purchases in quantities of 1-4. For quantities above four, the price is discounted and discounted again when the amount is 10 +. The Animal Cable Clips may be purchase in many species of animals at CableOrganizer.com

If you look at the ad at the top of this page, you will see that CableOrganizer.com is also offering a discount on purchases. You might have to refresh the page to see Cable Organizer’s ad. Perfect timing for a New Year’s purchase!

Where Fashion Meets Paper – Bonnie Marcus Collection

Posted on: December 18, 2009 @ 1:00 pm     2 Comments »

I did receive these items free of charge and am not being compensated by Bonnie Marcus for my review of their products. I simply share my own observations and thoughts from personal use of the samples provided to me.

I was surprised last week when I received a package containing samples of products from the Bonnie Marcus Collection. Yes, I had responded to do gift guide feature, but didn’t know they had sent the product out. Wow, am I impressed! I love anything to do with writing paper, probably because I am a writer. :-) These would make great stocking stuffers, Mother’s day, birthday gifts and “just because” gifts!

Notes on the Go $6.00 JMMB

These are stylish little notebooks approximately 4″x 3″ that feature cute illustrations of fashionable moms with her l-o-n-g shopping list and packages all around her (Shopping List notebook), another of a mom pushing a stroller (Mom Notes notebook) and the last one is of a mom juggling many different items – laptop, cell phone, teddy bear, soccer ball and groceries (Mom on the Move notebook). They have sturdy covers and an elastic band that keeps the notebook closed. There are 80 sheets of lined paper. The binding is perfect binding, meaning there is no coil, no wires to snag on clothing or hurt someone with.

P.S. The elastic on my Moms on the Move notebook broke. I think little fingers got their hands on it behind my back. I am a little disappointed. It was such a great little feature. Just something to watch with extended or over-use, I guess. I did come up with a solution and taped it back on because I really want to make use of the elastic closure.

Bonbon Notes $7.50 TOBB_large

The items featured here are pretty lined list pads that come packaged in plastic with a pink bow – comes in handy just in case you don’t have time to wrap it! There is a “pretty list” with this printed on the top, “Mom always has so much to do, a pretty list will help her get through!”. Then there is one with a picture of a mom in the bath tub with the heading, “Every mom needs a TIME OUT!”. The last one is for Date Nights with pertinent information for the babysitter – things like the parent’s cell phone, the event or location they’ll be at, the address, phone and what time they should be home. There is also a place for bedtime info, special instructions, home address and phone. Each of these pads come with a magnet on the back so they can be easily placed on the refrigerator. I love using pads like these. They are so much easier to keep track of than a scrap piece of paper. These are of much higher quality than the ones the Dollar Store has or even some of the ones I have purchased at Walmart where they come apart from the magnet or the paper tears off too easily and ends up on the floor.

They have many more notebooks that are geared towards brides, weddings, grandmothers, grandfathers, girlfriends, teachers, graduates, and expectant moms.
The other great thing is that these are gifts that “give back”, as a portion of the proceeds from the sale of any of the Bonnie Marcus Collection will be donated to organizations that support breast cancer research and eduction.

Great gifts for under $10.00 that I absolutely love! Talk about fashionable paper…these are stylin’.

About Bonnie MarcuslogoBonnieMarcus

Bonnie Marcus launched the fashionable stationary company, the Bonnie Marcus Collection “where fashion meets paper” in 2002, while pregnant with her first child. Whereas most moms-to-to be spend their last trimester relaxing or poring through endless piles of baby books, Bonnie ambitiously started her own company!

As a former New York City wedding planner and the Special Events Coordinator at the prestigious 92nd Street Y in Manhattan, Bonnie was familiar with the wedding industry and always thought that something was “lacking” in the invitation market. For years she searched for fresh, fashionable designs that reflected the chic metropolitan lifestyle of her clients. Unable to find anything appropriate, Bonnie began custom designing stylish invitations from her kitchen table.

Shortly after the launch, an editor from Modern Bride received an invitation and called Bonnie to say “your designs are a reason for a girl to want to get married!” Bonnie’s chic new holiday designs were featured in the New York Magazine as a “Best Bet” and the excitement has not stopped since!

A Weight Loss Resolution You Can Keep

Posted on: December 16, 2009 @ 8:00 am     7 Comments »

We all know that the holiday season brings extra snacking, which can add extra pounds if we aren’t careful. Now’s the time to plan ahead before all the bottles are recycled, the noisemakers thrown away and the confetti swept up off the floor. If you need to lose weight, then plan to start an weight loss resolution routine. We know that we always have good intentions at the start of each new year, but in a few short weeks those promises fall to the wayside. This happens because we have set impractical pledges that are fated to fail.

masthead-logo

Lucky for us, Pirate Brands’ (makers of all-natural snacks including the iconic Pirate’s Booty), resident registered dietician, Emily Anschlowar, MS, RD is here to offer tips on how to set realistic goals for 2010.:

· Be Specific. Don’t just say, “I want to lose weight.” Instead, vow to lose two pounds per week for one year by exercising three to four times weekly and eating sweets in moderation.

· Get Serious. If you’re not serious about losing weight and getting healthy, it is most likely you won’t achieve your goals, which can lead to feelings of shame and guilt.

· Take Stock. Look through your fridge and pantry and throw out or donate unopened packages of foods that are high in saturated fat, trans fat and calories or highly processed.

· Create a plan. Plan out your meals in advance and create a weekly shopping list to keep you on track in the grocery store. Also, develop a work out calendar, so you can pump yourself up the days you need to hit the elliptical machine.

* Change Your Habits. Select foods that are naturally high in fiber and whole grains. Make sure to hit all the food groups and practice portion control.
* Water it Down. Water is great for weight-loss because it often replaces high-calorie drinks like soft drinks and juices packed with sugar. Sticking to the “8 by 8″ (eight 8-ounce glasses of water by 8:00 p.m. daily) is a tried and true method to stay hydrated.

· Don’t Deprive. Your weight loss regimen should not feel like a punishment. Instead of depriving yourself, allow yourself to splurge on foods you love in moderation. For example, eat half of a chocolate bar once per week.

· Keep Snacking. Noshing on whole grain snacks that are low in sugar will keep your energy up for that big meeting in between breakfast and lunch. Snacking will also keep you from overindulging at mealtimes.

Pirate Brands snacks are deliciously baked, low in fat, gluten and trans-fat free as well as made from all-natural, wholesome ingredients.

t-9t-2

Pirate’s Booty is made from puffed rice and corn, only 130 calories per servings and comes in great flavors like Aged White Cheddar, Barbeque, Veggie, Sea Salt & Vinegar and New York Pizza.

Other great-tasting snacks include Smart Puffs, all-natural baked corn puffs made with real Wisconsin cheddar and Original Tings, all-natural vegan crunchy corn sticks.

We hope you’ll be inspired to live a little healthier and have fun while doing it! Let’s weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen!

Pirate Brands

Pirate Brands, a leader and manufacturer of all-natural snacks, is located in Sea Cliff, NY and has been creating healthier treasures since 1987. The company was founded on the belief that you shouldn’t have to “snackrifice” taste and fun for health. Pirate Brands produces deliciously baked, all-natural snacks including Pirate’s Booty, Smart Puffs and Original Tings. Pirate Brands’ snacks are free from fryers, trans fats and ingredients you can’t pronounce, Arrrrrr. Products are sold in the US. For more information visit: www.piratebrands.com

Little Baker Gift and More from Child to Cherish

Posted on: December 15, 2009 @ 8:00 am     No Comments »

I received several free products from Child to Cherish but am not being compensated in any way for my review. My review is my personal opinion and observations.

Child to Cherish has many different products that would make wonderful gifts for babies and children. The products I received from Child to Cherish include: The
Little Baker” Suitcase, three plush baby rattles and a Plant a Christmas Tree.

The “Little Baker” Suitcase Collection

x1_1cf5c6fd11a359af789fb0097107a49a

My three year old really liked this little baker’s set, as did all my other little bakers who are excited to do some Christmas baking! This is a very “sweet” gift idea. The suitcase is like the old tin lunch boxes, but only bigger. It states that it is a food grade tin, so it can double up as a way to carry all the cookies we are going to bake! It measures approximately 8″L x 11″W x 4″H. It came wrapped in plastic, but had a pretty ribbon tied to the handle with a teddy bear cookie cutter. Inside there is a neatly wrapped apron for the aspiring young baker to wear while baking the five delicious recipes contained within Cookie Recipe book that is also included in this little baker’s suitcase. There are also three mini cookie cutters – a gingerbread man, star and heart- perfect for little fingers, a small wooden children’s rolling pin and wooden spoon.

The suitcase comes in the choice of pink and blue.

This Little Baker Suitcase costs $42.99 at Child to Cherish.

Plush Baby Rattles from the Buttermilk Farm

50f7a2473fe71ba691b1f7b17e523d36ac2f81314efe2c2f4d0f9302f1f960c61a737ab15ebd89395681e7b9fadee23b

These are cute little baby rattles. They are a soft plush toy with a very quiet sound. These products as well as the suitcase all come with a darling little gift tag already attached. Our suitcase has a tag with a mama and baby bear baking cookies. The rattles each tags with a whimsical country farm, probably Buttermilk Farm. The tags are large enough to write a quick note if you managed the writing space well. There is a carrot, pea pod and corn cob.

These Buttermilk Farm rattles may be purchased at Child to Cherish for $4.99.

2a1cee8349bf43461f779c2660178cdbPlant a Christmas Tree

This simple little gift came in a plastic cylinder container that not only serves as a gift package but is also the little green house in which to grow a Christmas Tree. It contained soil, pebbles and several Christmas Tree seeds. We planted a couple of our seeds and are now waiting for them to grow.

The green house does have two holes in the bottom, so we placed a yogurt lid beneath it to catch the excess water that drains out. There were basic instructions on the label but no written instructions, so this might pose a problem for those who have never planted anything before. However, the process is quite easy. First, you put the pebbles in for drainage, then add the soil and water and finally 2-3 seeds. Voila! The tree is planted.

Plant a Christmas Tree retails for $6.99 at Child to Cherish.
