Our official review of the product is via video with my art loving daughter as the main reviewer. One thing she said that she forgot to mention was that it would have been nice to have lighter colors or at least white to make the four colors she had lighter, as she wanted to make a summer daytime scene, but had to make a night scene. She also would have liked to have black. Now, she has white and black in her other paint supplies but we chose to stick with using only the Clementine Art product we were provided with for her art project.

My oldest daughter reported that the paint containers seemed to tip over easily so with younger children it might be best to have an adult helping. My three oldest did it themselves. They are pretty responsible.

Editor’s Note: One other observation that the girls made was that the colors do not dry true to the color that they appear. They dry a lighter shade of the color. This happened when they dried their pictures inside and outside in the sun.

Most girls and women enjoy painting their nails. My girls and I are no different. We like having pretty nails and toe nails! I don’t know if it is all in our heads or what, but it makes us feel pretty. The thing is my husband can’t stand the smell of nail polish. So summertime is about the only time we wear it.

We were presented the opportunity to try nail polish from GreenEnvy. We picked Iced Plum as our color. Love the light pinks. I have had mine on for about a week and have found that it hasn’t chipped nearly as bad as other brands have and has just started to show wear especially since my nails are growing leaving a space between the nail polish and cuticle! GreenEnvy nail polish seems to hold up well even after washing lots of dishes, at least better than other brands, so that is a plus.

What surprised us was the fact that even though this nail polish is suppose to be a green beauty product for the eco-trendy generation, it still has a strong odor resembling that of regular brands. So I am not sure what that ingredient is, but it smells!

Here is what the product descriptions says:

All GreenEnvy nail lacquers are made in the USA and do NOT contain harsh chemical like Toluene, Formaldehyde nor Dibutyl Phthalate.

I am very curious to know what is causing the odor. Other than the odor, I am quite pleased with the product and really like the color. I don’t find that the photos above are a true representation of the actual color though and remember computer screens can make colors seem different from what they really are.

I have sort of become a handbag junkie of late, not necessarily a bad thing either. It’s actually quite fun! One of the new ones I recently acquired is the eco friendly Wicker Market bag from five ACCESSORIES. While it isn’t as large as I thought it would be, should have looked at the dimensions (11 1/4″ wide by 3″ deep by 16″ tall (including handles) on the description a bit more closely, it is still a wonderful medium sized bag. It really isn’t large enough to serve as an all day diaper bag, but for short jaunts a travel pack of wipes and a couple of diapers would fit into it, along with a few other small mom/baby items.

I’ve always loved wicker and this handbag is classic. It can be used as an accessory to a casual outfit or a fun summer outing with a nice sundress. I used it this past week when I went out. I wore a basic maternity top in cream color and a red skirt that has cream/olive flower print and thought the Wicker Market bag was a perfect match for my outfit and where I was going. Isn’t funny how little things like accessories and what we wear can change the way we feel? It’s a good thing, isn’t it?

The one thing this eco friendly handbag does not have that I like is an inside pocket. The inside is all open in its cloth lining and draw string closure top. It has sturdy handles, but I wouldn’t let my the kids toss it around or sit on it because of the delicate design on the outside could be broken in rough handling. Yes, children can do the darndest things sometimes and often without even thinking.

This fashionable bag retails for a whopping $75! However, as with all five’s handbags and accessories $5.00 from each handbag or 15% of accessory sales gives back to charity. gWipes. Interesting name, isn’t it? I was intrigued when I read the email we received about gWipes. These wipes seem to be the perfect solution for those transitioning their baby care products from mainstream items to eco friendly ones.

gWipes are biodegradable and what that means is best explained in this video of their gDiaper video (which I think Sarah-Jean is going to review in the future):

How is that for a WOW factor? I know it got my attention and made me realize just how much better it is to use biodegradable products.

Back to my review….

I actually liked these wipes. I tend to be a bit particular about wipes. I am not the type of mom that just buys the cheapest or on sale versions because wipes are suppose to do a couple of important jobs for moms – clean bottoms and hands, faces and even dirty surfaces, as my two year old likes to do. Gotta watch that boy or else he’ll use the whole bag of wipes! But I digress. I like wipes that are wet and hold their moisture. Nothing like opening a package or container of dry wipes….:-( The wipes have to be somewhat absorbent, and have some thickness to it as I prefer not to get my hands full of stool while cleaning a child’s bottom. gWipes met these criteria. The problem is a package of 70 wipes on a week we have been on the go has not lasted very long at all. So, my last criteria is that they come in big packages because my family is big. gWipes actually do come in a larger size a box of 12 packages, so they meet that criteria too.

These wipes have a pretty neutral odor. They are unscented, alcohol free, chlorine free, and all natural.

Here’s an ingredient list for those of you who care:

Aqua (purified water), butylene glycol, phospholipid CDM (coconut oil derived mild skin cleanser), polysorbate 20 (wetting agent), tinosan SDC (natural preservative and deodorant), aloe barbadensis leaf juice (aloe, skin conditioner and moisturizer), sodium citrate, tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E acetate, natural anti-oxidant), and allantoin (soothing to skin).

I haven’t looked up all of these ingredients, and am surprised my daughter hasn’t yet either, but on the surface things look good. But perform your own “do diligence” and research it out for yourselves too.

We received three little String Dolls form The Original String Doll Collection at Kamibashi.com What I missed when I received the information was that they are keychains! I thought they were a doll doll, but each one is a doll on a keychain. They can clip to backpacks, wallets, purses and duffle bags.

The String Doll Gang is very unique. They are handmade in Thailand with yarn and have a little bell that jingles. Guess to allow anyone to hear you when you are coming! They also include a motivating phrase on its tag. The ones we received are:

Coral – Coral helps you dive deeper to explore what’s beneath the surface.

Ollie – Ollie gives you the basic technique to overcome obstacles.

Seamus the Sheep – Seamus the Sheep does the counting for you so you can sleep.

Kamibashi claims that these little verses give the person “power”, I prefer to use the term motivating or inspiring phrases. I don’t believe objects can give you power.

The String Doll Gang are cute in a different sort of way and some are cuter than others. Even my children made comments about how silly or ugly some of them are. My children all have chosen ones that they like – Lola the librarian because our daughter loves to read, the younger girls liked Princess and Jumbo Twinkle, our older girls like both Marie Antoinette and Frida too. Our boys liked Spartacus and Chuck the hockey player but there were others that they were naming too, I just could not keep up with them as they were spouting off each one!

While the tag says that these are not for children under 6, my two year old is busy playing with them beside me as I write this review! He isn’t putting them in his mouth, he is playing with them like they are his Fisher Price people. But that doesn’t mean I recommend them for younger children. I am just sharing that he took them from my side and started playing with them! He is under my watchful eye, along with all the other children gathered around me right now.

Update: I just took The String Doll Gang from Noah because he started to take one of Coral’s flipper off!

The only thing that I cannot report on in my haste to post this review is how well they hold up to hanging from a purse or backpack! I forgot about that aspect of my review, sorry, but at least you know how it holds up under a two-year-old’s man handling.

When I was asked if I wanted to feature one of Kushies Organic Layette, I jumped on the opportunity to see what their cute outfits were like. I chose the Spring/Summer Organic Stars and Stripes Long Johns in Sage. Since I don’t know the sex of our baby, I chose a neutral color in the 3-month size since my babies tend to be eight pounds and over.
