Aldabella Scarpa’s ’09 Line Rocks the Schoolyard!
New “Make A Statement†Series Empowers Teen Girls
Through Design and Positive Message
Los Angeles, CA – January 23, 2009 – Teen and preteen years are crucial developmental phases in the lives of young girls, and can set the stage for life. For this reason, children’s shoemaker Aldabella Scarpa enlisted the help of 13-year-old Monique Esparza and 9-year-old Jessica Smith. Both girls are much more concerned with helping girls take pride in their individuality than winning a popularity contest. These young designers are helping to launch the company’s first tennis shoe line – the Make A Statement series – as a way to encourage confidence and self-empowerment in young girls.
In an effort to increase the awareness of issues of self-worth and identity effecting teen and pre-teen girls today, west coast-based Aldabella Scarpa gave Esparza and Smith the opportunity to create their own shoe line to help inspire their peers and generation. The line features two models: the “I Matter†shoe, designed by Esparza, and the “I Rock†shoe, designed by Smith.
“I think the Make a Statement line will really speak to girls my age,†says Esparza. “It’s important to be confident and happy with who you are, and I think these shoes really represent that. It helps that they’re cute, too!â€
With inspiring messages like “believe,†“dream,†and “laugh†stitched into the shoes, the Make A Statement series is a fun, light-hearted footwear line intended to motivate, uplift, and empower. The “I Matter†shoe is available in black, royal blue, green, red and pink with white graphic lettering. The “I Rock†shoe is available in black/gold, black/pink, and brown/gold. Sizes for both models are available from children’s size 10 to adult’s size 10.
“We wanted to launch a line that would not only reach out to young girls, but help them feel strong and beautiful,†says Aldabella Scarpa VP of Product Development Monica Gonzalez. “We’re thrilled to have Monique and Jessica on board as our youngest designers, and hope that their creativity will inspire other girls to pursue their own dreams and aspirations.â€
The Make a Statement line complements the Aldabella Scarpa collection, which currently features creatively crafted, high quality shoes for girls and boys. Aldabella Scarpa shoes are available online as well as in select boutiques throughout the nation and abroad.
