Board games are a perfect activity when you are snow bound, unless of course you would rather be outside. Then again, you have to come inside to get warm eventually! My two little ones did not last a half hour in the snow this morning, but the rest of them are still shoveling. I get to watch from the window with baby, but may venture out later. So if you are in any of the states hit by the blizzare, settle in by your warm fire and with your cup of hot chocolate to enjoy down time with your children by playing your favorite game.
We recently received a new board game, Fish Stix. It is a fun, easy game for young children to play. There are cards called Fish Stix with four different fish on them that have to be matched up and points are accumulated for each fish matched. As the fish are matched players move six oval shaped game pieces across their game board. The first to have all their fish pieces across the board wins.
This game is for 2-4 players ages 5+, however, bright 2-4 year olds may understand and play just fine with a parent or older child’s help.
Take a look at this little video to see what I mean:
Our children really like this game. This game has kept our children busy and playing together nearly every day since it arrived. The only pitfall to this game or any game for that matter is how easy small game pieces are lost. We’ve already lost several of the small oval fish pieces. 🙁 Putting the game pieces in zippered bags from the beginning could help alleviate this problem.
