We were sent two different Dr. Sears Family Essentials products. These are a new line of healthy snacks Dr. Sears has developed especially for kids that are filled with 18 essential vitamins and minerals they need each day. We received the nutritional beverage, Cool Fuel (two vanilla and two chocolate) and POPUMZ chips (two vanilla, two chocolate and one caramel). Both products are all natural, contain no High Fructose Corn Syrup, free of wheat, yeast, gluten and nut derivatives. Seemly appropriate for children with allergies, but moms still do your research just to make sure they would be ok for your child to eat. These products contain 100mg of Omega-3 (anchovy and sardines!). With so many of us lacking in the omega department this is a very good thing to add to our kids diet. We usually try to take lemon flavored cod liver oil.
The POPUMZ chips went over really well. They were crispy and tasty. However, the Cool Fuel nutritional beverage did not. The younger children (under five) liked it better than the older children (over five). For some reason the older children thought it tasted too sweet. Now this is a major statement coming from a family who has a major sweet tooth! I only took a sip and thought the vanilla drink tasted like a vanilla drink and the chocolate, while not chocolate milk, it was ok. The sweetener used in it is dried cane syrup. Buyer beware that there is an ingredient “natural flavors” on the ingredient list. Never really sure what that is since it can be used for any number of ingredients, unfortunately.
Cool Fuel is available in 4-packs with each one being 8 oz. ($8.99/pack), POPUMZ chips are available in a 4-pack ($3.99) and 32-pack ($26.99). Each individual bag is 8 oz.
These would be a great snack alternative to any of the artificially flavored, dye infested snacks (oops…did I say that?) on the market today providing no nutritional value at all. I know, we all eat them, but the question is….should we?
Here’s to better health, snacks and food choices!
