We have been hearing more and more about the importance of using BPA free products and products that are non-toxic to our children. Most of us are aware that going green is good for our families and the environment. But the cost in changing everything over to green, organic products is not just time consuming but expensive! Yet at the same time small steps over time makes moving in that direction much more affordable to many families. So without further adieu, I introduce another company that has joined the growing pool of businesses offering a green alternative in feeding accessories for kids and babies – Silikids.

Silikids products are BPA free, clean, hypo allergenic, non-toxic and has few pores, thus inhibiting the growth of bacteria and mold, unlike some sippy cups which can harbor both bacteria and mold. The Silikids website says that silicone is safe because “Silicone is basically made up of silicon, a natural element present in sand, quartz and rock, which, after oxygen, is the most abundant element on earth. Silicon is transformed into silicone when combined with oxygen, carbon and hydrogen. Because it is an inert material, it does not react with food or beverages, or produce any hazardous fumes. It’s non-toxic, hypo allergenic, does not promote bacteria or fungus growth, and it does not transmit taste to food.” Silikids products are green because silicone can be recycled and Silikids even suggests you sending your worn out products back to them, but claim that because silicone is very durable that won’t be for a long time.
