Ft. Bragg’s Infant Death Toll Climbs

This is the first that I remember hearing about the infant deaths at Ft. Bragg’s military housing in North Carolina. It saddens me to think of those babies dying and the anguish those parents must feel. It enrages me that Child Protective Services has jurisdiction to remove other children in the home when the parents have already lost one. How can they do that? This is the mama bear in me talking, not the logical person. I understand when foul play is suspected that children need to be removed for safety reasons, but when there is no evidence of foul play and all the children are well cared for, I do not see any reason for this government agency to get involved. Imagine the pain these parents faced losing their four and a half month old baby boy, then could not go to the hospital with him because they were detained due to questioning? Say what??? Could they not wait until they saw their son to the hospital safely and said goodbye??? At least. Remember this is the mama bear in me talking. As parents our first instinct is to protect and be with our children to insure they are safe, I cannot imagine how these parents must have felt.

They are suspecting tainted drywall as the cause of most of these deaths, however, they have not solved or corrected the problem. I thought of mold as in the case of this last death. Mold is toxic, no doubt about it and it should not be messed with or taken lightly.

I sure hope the news coverage of this story forces the powers that be to do a thorough investigation before any more lives are taken.

How about you, what are your thoughts? What would you do? How would you feel? What do you think the problem is? Do you think we should be buying Chinese drywall?

Thank you for bringing more attention to this horrible situation. Jaxson is my nephew and not only did my sister have to go thru the terrible loss of her son but was then treated like a criminal. I do understand what you are saying about mama bear vs rational but like you mentioned unless there was signs of neglect or abuse there was no reason for the other children to be removed. Especially when Jaxson was the 12th baby to die at Ft. Bragg in just 4 years. When my 8 y/o niece came home from school my sister had to tell her that her brother had died with a CPS worker standing over her taking notes! She was not allowed time to privately talk to her daughter and grieve with her. It was awful. Thank you for talking about this subject. Please help us contiue to get information out there to stop any other family from going thru this.
