About Wood Sprite Organic Body

Wood Sprite’s line of Premium Organic Soaps are artfully handmade in small batches using a base of organic olive oil, organic coconut and organic palm oil using the time-honored “cold kettle” method. They utilize whole or organic herbs, aromatherapy grade pure essential oils and exotic nut and fruit oils such as organic sunflower, organic sweet almond, kukui, apricot kernel and grapeseed or rich, nourishing butters such as organic shea, mango, organic cocoa and kokum, which add vital moisturizing properties to the characteristically creamy, luxurious lather of our organic soaps. Wood Sprite organic soaps are unsurpassed for purity, quality and performance. Naturally glycerin-rich, our organic herbal soaps gently cleanse the skin without stripping it of its essential natural oils, leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth and utterly pampered! We use only pure, natural essential oils to scent our soaps and organic herbs or naturally-occurring clays to color them. You will find absolutely NO artificial fragrances, colorants or preservatives in Wood Sprite Organic Soaps. In fact, they use no synthetics or chemicals of any kind and have never used parabens or pthalates in any of their products (for more information on the potentially harmful use of parabens and pthalates in cosmetics, please see the excellent “Think Before You Pink” website, at thinkbeforeyoupink.org). They do not test on animals, and use entirely botanical or mineral ingredients with the exception of only organic honey and beeswax. All of their ingredients are clearly disclosed on their website.

But organic soap is not all they make–they also make an assortment of fine organic spa and body care products, for the the highest quality and purity in organic skin care. For the discerning spagoer, they offer a full line of natural and organic, chemical-free spa products and professional spa treatments which you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home, any day of the week. Grapefruit-Mint Gentle Organic Body Wash: We loved the smell of this gentle organic body wash. Grapefruit-Mint may not sound all that appealing but really does smell very nice. It definitely lives up to Wood Sprite’s claim of leaving your skin feeling soft. Our oldest daughter just loves it. It comes in 5 scents and is $14.00 for a 9.5oz bottle.

Get Whipped Vanilla Shea Body Butter: This shea body butter is so nice to have for eczema. Our oldest has had some eczema and it took away some of it that was on her arm and it has since disappeared. We like how it applies, as it is not greasy feeling. I am not sure about the smell yet though. It comes in a nice plastic container and has 4 scents. It is priced at $19.99 for a 3 oz jar.

Sweet Orange Lip Balm: This lip balm is extra special as it has a really great smell – one of the best lip balm scents we have ever smelled – but we love oranges though! It is not greasy nor waxy tasting and is very helpful when you have chapped lips. It comes in 6 scents and is $5.00 for a .15 tube.

Tea Tree Complexion Soap: This soap is so soft it is hard to believe that it has no parabens or any other chemical ingredients. It is has olive oil in it so that makes it extra soft! Our oldest daughter is a huge tester in our family because if she can use a product, then usually it will be good for all of us. She used this on her face and had no problems. She didn’t break out at all, so we are very happy with this soap! It is $9.00 for a 0z bar. This soap is great to combat eczema, psoriasis or acne.

We definitely recommend Wood Sprite Organic Body! It is an added bonus that they are Certified Organic. We love it that they do not use any chemicals in their products. Be sure to check out the rest of their products at www.WoodSpriteOrganicBody.com.

My daughter recently received some product from Alabu Natural Products for the Skin and as we have shared before with other Goat Milk Soaps we have tried, we really these products a lot.

Alabu Natural Products

Organic All Natural Shea Body Butter: This Shea Body Butter actually helped the eczema on my daughter’s arm. Whenever she used it, her eczema faded. Now it didn’t completely go away, but it definitely improved. We really like all natural products, especially if they are really all natural.

The Shea Body Butter comes in two kinds of ‘scents’. The product that type we received was the Original with jojoba oil. The other scent is: Tea Tree. It is definitely really nice for dry skin when you don’t have any hand-cream in the house or after a shower! It is priced at: $4.90 for Original but the Tea Tree is priced at $6.90. Very reasonable for all natural Shea Body Butter.

Organic All Natural Lip Balm: The lip balm comes in 3 different flavors. We received mint. We liked the scent and “flavor”. It does help chapped lips, but we did not see any big differences in the condition of our lips. It was still a nice lip balm. The scents are: Mint, Tea Tree, Vanilla, and Natural. They are all priced at $3.50.

Organic All Natural Neem Essential Oil Soap: Neem oil contributes conditioning properties and a wonderful lather to this soap, making it a good choice for dry and problem skin. The neem oil is not added for the great scent (it actually smells terrible, and they add lavender essential oil to help tone down the scent). It’s in the soap because it’s great for your skin. Just be forewarned: don’t judge it for it’s smell! My daughter thought it smelled like lavender and it didn’t smell that bad to me. The soap made our skin feel very soft. We attribute that to the goat milk! Priced at $6.30.

Organic All Natural Baby Me Ultra-Moisturizing cleansing Bar:This soap’s name says it all! :) It too makes the skin feel soft and silky! It smells nice and it was my daughter’s favorite of the two soaps. It lathered nicely and is recommended for anyone with extra sensitive skin. This is the soap my daughter found made her hands very soft after working in the garden all day. She doesn’t wear gloves like I do! It is reasonably priced at: $5.15

We’d highly recommend Alabu products.

About Alabu

A Brief History:

After making goat milk soap for a home-school chemistry project, we quickly realized how drying and harsh commercial soap was to our skin. We found that handmade natural soap (made with the “cold process” soap method) retains the naturally occurring glycerin that is very beneficial to your skin. Family and friends told us how our soap was a great skin care product, and how it did not leave their skin feeling dry and itchy like commercial soap did and helped with their eczema treatment. That is when Alabu Soap was born. Now we have retail and wholesale soap customers world wide.” (Editor’s Note: the Alabu company was founded by a Christian homeschooling family.)

Skin Care with Softsoap Body Wash

Fashionable Media Review Policy: The featured product for this review was provided to me, at no cost, by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by monetary compensation.

Softsoap brand recently introduced three new body washes: Nutri Serums Mineral Extracts, Body Butter Mega Moisture Vanilla and Black Orchid & Velvet Hibiscus (Not available until August). Each retail for approximately $3.50-$4.50.

About the New Body Washes

Nutri Serums Mineral Extracts uses a luxurious formula infused with mineral extracts to enhance skin’s radiance, while providing a concentrated dose of nuturients for soft and healthy looking skin. The result is glowing skin that you’ll want to show off.

Body Butter Mega Moisture Heavenly Vanilla is a thick, rich formula that delivers long-lasting moisture benefits to leave skin soft and smooth. The comforting vanilla scent washes away stress and leaves you ready to conquer your day.

My Review

We had the privilege of receiving the Nutri Serums Mineral Extracts and Body Butter Mega Moisture Vanilla. Both smell heavenly. After one of my daughters used the Nutri Serums Mineral Extracts, I couldn’t help but notice and comment on how nice she smelled! That’s when she told me she used one of the new soaps.

My older daughter really liked the fragrance of both body washes and thought it made her skin feel really soft. Her only disappointment was that these two products were not all natural, organic products. She almost seems more conscious of the ingredients of personal care products and food than my husband and I. I think that is a good thing though.

I really like the smell of the new Soft soap body washes, but thought it the Body Butter Mega Moisture was pretty thick to rub into the skin. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but if you are in a hurry to get in and out of the shower it could hinder the process. The Heavenly Vanilla did seem to help with my peeling arms. Due to working in the garden so much in the spring and early summer, my arms got burned and the dead skin was peeling, but it became more like dry flakes. The flakes are still visible but have diminished somewhat after using the Butter Mega Moisture Heavenly Vanilla, so I will continue to use it to see if it helps get rid of my flaky arms! I absolutely love the vanilla scent!

Le Baby Hair Gel

We have been using Le Baby hair for the last couple of weeks and have found that it does help with styling our little ones hair. The tube may be very small (only 2 oz.) but a little goes a l-o-n-g way. Only a drop is need. We found that out the hard way when we used too much it made the children’s hair greasy.

I noticed that when I styled our daughter’s hair by curling the ends under, Le Baby hair gel did a fair job of holding the style without using hair spray, which I liked since I don’t like having to use hair spray on the children.

As far as unruly after nap hair goes, it really does work at getting those knots and tangles out. Again, only a pea size amount will do the trick.

Another little tip is not to store the tube upright because when you go to open it the gel flows out fast and furiously wasting much! So it is best to store laying on its side, not top cover.

Le Baby hair gel is a styling gel free of harsh chemicals meant to define wispy curls and tackle unruly after-nap hair. Retail Cost: $9.95

Stylish Holiday Hair for Tots from Le Baby, Inc.

I have been to alerted to a hair styling product just for babies, children and anyone with sensitive skin. Le Baby hair gel is hypoallergenic, contains no parabens, no harsh chemicals, no sulfates, and is not tested on animals. Le Baby, Inc. says their product tames the frizzies and the fly-aways, thickens baby-fine hair, moisturizes, and softly holds curls. This is the product to keep your child’s hairstyles in place and never leaves hair stiff or sticky. I hope to get my hands on some sooner or later, but if any of you try Le Baby hair gel before I get to, please drop us a line ok?

Le Baby_3

“Today’s fashionable parents think of their children as extensions of themselves,” says Tami Dimmerman, mother of two and creator of Le Baby Inc., a hypoallergenic hair gel designed especially for babies, kids and anyone with sensitive skin. “Today’s modern kids need to look just as fashionable and stylish as their cool moms and dads. Hairstyles have become a way of self-expression for kids and remind others that they have their own personalities.”

Meet the Creator – Tami Dimmerman

Tami searched for a product that would tame and style her daughter Chloe’s fly-away hair without aggravating her eczema or irritating her sensitive skin. She hoped to find a safe, gentle and effective gel without harsh chemicals or potentially harmful ingredients. Unwilling to settle for what was in the marketplace, Tami spent months experimenting with different all-natural formulas until, through animal-free testing, she found the perfect combination and solution.

Tami continues, “The children’s haircare market has become a big industry. Where once a baby care routine involved a simple bath and powdering, parents and caretakers are now looking for products that pamper babies both physically and mentally. I wanted to create a worry-free product that helped moms and dads create fun hairstyles; and keep their kids groomed while feeling good about it. ”

Each year in the U.S., nearly 13,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer–which sadly is the leading cause of death for children ages one year through adolescence. Today about 75% of children diagnosed with cancer become long-term survivors (up from >10% in the early 1950s), largely due to advances made by pediatric cancer research, which has led to essential treatment strategies such as multi-agent chemotherapy and combined modality therapy.

philosophyResearch can and is making a difference, and philosophy invites you to join the fight against this deadly disease by supporting pediatric cancer research. From now through October 15, 2009, philosophy will be donating 100% of the net proceeds of their oatmeal raisin high foaming shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer–an organization created to raise awareness of and funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer through the concept of hosting local bake sales.

If you are interested in learning more about pediatric cancer research or in contributing to this vitally important cause, we invite you to visit the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer website and learn how to throw a bake sale of your own in four easy steps (planning, details, bake, sell). Or, support the cause–and give yourself a no-calorie treat–by purchasing your own bottle of Oatmeal Raisin bath gel from philosophy!

Baby Bath Time – A Safe Time??

March 30th, 2009 by The Fashionable Housewife

toxictubIt seems that the more sophisticated our body products become, the closer we must look at what is actually in them. We have gone from the days of plain old lye soap to products of every type catering to every group, young and old alike. The most concerning groups of body products are those targeted at babies and children. At a time when young bodies are growing and developing, our children are being exposed to countless chemicals – the result of which is still totally unclear. What is clear is that babies may be exposed to several products at bath time, several times a week, in addition to other chemical exposures in the home and environment. Those small exposures add up and may contribute to later-life disease.

The March 2009 Campaign for Safe Cosmetics report, “No More Toxic Tub”, has just been released and the findings are disturbing. Not only are known cancer-causing chemicals such as formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane being found in products advertised as “safe and gentle”, but these chemicals are not disclosed on product labels because they’re contaminants, not ingredients, and therefore (unlike other countries) are exempt from labeling laws in the U.S. Manufacturers can easily remove the toxic byproduct, but are not required by law to do so.

Since we can not count on our systems to ensure ingredient safety, we must fend for ourselves. The mission of Ulew Natural Products is to find and offer safe cosmetics. Our products are the cleanest around. Good, food-grade, quality natural ingredients – including and especially our baby products. Help your children get a good healthy start in life!

Check out Ulew’s full line of baby products.
