Stylish Holiday Hair for Tots from Le Baby, Inc.

Posted on: December 22, 2009 @ 8:00 am     3 Comments »

I have been to alerted to a hair styling product just for babies, children and anyone with sensitive skin. Le Baby hair gel is hypoallergenic, contains no parabens, no harsh chemicals, no sulfates, and is not tested on animals. Le Baby, Inc. says their product tames the frizzies and the fly-aways, thickens baby-fine hair, moisturizes, and softly holds curls. This is the product to keep your child’s hairstyles in place and never leaves hair stiff or sticky. I hope to get my hands on some sooner or later, but if any of you try Le Baby hair gel before I get to, please drop us a line ok?

Le Baby_3

“Today’s fashionable parents think of their children as extensions of themselves,” says Tami Dimmerman, mother of two and creator of Le Baby Inc., a hypoallergenic hair gel designed especially for babies, kids and anyone with sensitive skin. “Today’s modern kids need to look just as fashionable and stylish as their cool moms and dads. Hairstyles have become a way of self-expression for kids and remind others that they have their own personalities.”

Meet the Creator – Tami Dimmerman

Tami searched for a product that would tame and style her daughter Chloe’s fly-away hair without aggravating her eczema or irritating her sensitive skin. She hoped to find a safe, gentle and effective gel without harsh chemicals or potentially harmful ingredients. Unwilling to settle for what was in the marketplace, Tami spent months experimenting with different all-natural formulas until, through animal-free testing, she found the perfect combination and solution.

Tami continues, “The children’s haircare market has become a big industry. Where once a baby care routine involved a simple bath and powdering, parents and caretakers are now looking for products that pamper babies both physically and mentally. I wanted to create a worry-free product that helped moms and dads create fun hairstyles; and keep their kids groomed while feeling good about it. ”

I don’t know if you’ve heard yet, but Disney has a new movie coming out called The Princess and the Frog. It is Disney’s first new princess in ten years and she will be the first ever African American princess! How timely is that considering we have the first African American family in the White House? You’ve gotta admit that Disney is taking full advantage of this opportunity!

NaveenFrog Tiana Louis

Most of the following information was provided in a press release sent to us by Tractenberg & Co. Thanks Caren!

The Princess and the Frog is a musical animated comedy set in the great city of New Orleans. A modern twist on a classic tale, the film features a girl named Tiana who dreams of owning her own restaurant, a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana.

Their new film, featuring the voice talent of Anika Noni Rose, Terrence Howard, John Goodman, Keith David, Jim Cummings, Jenifer Lewis and Oprah Winfrey, film opens November 25, 2009, in Los Angeles and New York and hits theaters nationwide on December 11, 2009.

In addition to their new film, Disney in conjunction with Carol’s Daughter is launching a four-piece hair and body line celebrating Princess Tiana’s hard work, determination, natural beauty, and universal appeal. This collection is the authentic hair, fragrance and body care line inspired by nature to meet the needs of every princess-in-training around the world. The Magical Beauty Collection by Carol’s Daughter, inspired by Disney’s upcoming holiday film The Princess and the Frog.

“Disney is proud to collaborate with Carol’s Daughter to bring this wonderful line to life,” said Mary Beech, vice president and general manager, film franchise, Disney Consumer Products. “Princess Tiana gives women and girls a new role model, who exemplifies all of the qualities of a true princess, and the Magical Beauty Collection captures the essence of Tiana’s story of inner beauty and believing in your dreams.”

Baking For Pediatric Cancer, With philosophy

Posted on: August 27, 2009 @ 12:00 pm     No Comments »

Each year in the U.S., nearly 13,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer–which sadly is the leading cause of death for children ages one year through adolescence. Today about 75% of children diagnosed with cancer become long-term survivors (up from >10% in the early 1950s), largely due to advances made by pediatric cancer research, which has led to essential treatment strategies such as multi-agent chemotherapy and combined modality therapy.

philosophyResearch can and is making a difference, and philosophy invites you to join the fight against this deadly disease by supporting pediatric cancer research. From now through October 15, 2009, philosophy will be donating 100% of the net proceeds of their oatmeal raisin high foaming shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer–an organization created to raise awareness of and funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer through the concept of hosting local bake sales.

If you are interested in learning more about pediatric cancer research or in contributing to this vitally important cause, we invite you to visit the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer website and learn how to throw a bake sale of your own in four easy steps (planning, details, bake, sell). Or, support the cause–and give yourself a no-calorie treat–by purchasing your own bottle of Oatmeal Raisin bath gel from philosophy!

Baby Bath Time – A Safe Time??

Posted on: March 30, 2009 @ 6:06 am     No Comments »

toxictubIt seems that the more sophisticated our body products become, the closer we must look at what is actually in them. We have gone from the days of plain old lye soap to products of every type catering to every group, young and old alike. The most concerning groups of body products are those targeted at babies and children. At a time when young bodies are growing and developing, our children are being exposed to countless chemicals – the result of which is still totally unclear. What is clear is that babies may be exposed to several products at bath time, several times a week, in addition to other chemical exposures in the home and environment. Those small exposures add up and may contribute to later-life disease.

The March 2009 Campaign for Safe Cosmetics report, “No More Toxic Tub”, has just been released and the findings are disturbing. Not only are known cancer-causing chemicals such as formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane being found in products advertised as “safe and gentle”, but these chemicals are not disclosed on product labels because they’re contaminants, not ingredients, and therefore (unlike other countries) are exempt from labeling laws in the U.S. Manufacturers can easily remove the toxic byproduct, but are not required by law to do so.

Since we can not count on our systems to ensure ingredient safety, we must fend for ourselves. The mission of Ulew Natural Products is to find and offer safe cosmetics. Our products are the cleanest around. Good, food-grade, quality natural ingredients – including and especially our baby products. Help your children get a good healthy start in life!

Check out Ulew’s full line of baby products.

Read the full article, see the safety guide to children’s personal care products and find out what you can do here.

Lil Rinser Keeps Shampoos Away from Eyes And Face

Posted on: March 26, 2009 @ 5:56 am     No Comments »

Rinse and Run Technology Keeps Dangerous Carcinogens Found in Children’s Shampoos Away from Face.

lilrinser_logoAccording to recent reports released by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, many children’s bath products contain chemicals that may cause cancer and skin allergies. Twenty-three of 28 products tested contained formaldehyde, the report says. Formaldehyde — considered a probable carcinogen by the Environmental Protection Agency, — is released as preservatives break down over time in a container.

For parents concerned about the potential risk, a product on the market, Lil Rinser, which utilizes “Rinse and Run Technology” to keep soap, shampoo and water out of children’s eyes, ears and mouths during bathing, can help further prevent exposure to toxins in shampoos. Lil Rinser was developed and patented by two fathers concerned about the risk of carcinogens in children’s shampoos and searching for a solution to their children’s bath-time fears.

lilrinser_face“When we created Lil Rinser, we were addressing two real needs for our children with the same solution – by keeping keep soap, shampoo and water out of their eyes, ears and mouths when shampooing they were less traumatized by the process and they had less exposure to harmful chemicals,” said Marty Ciesinski, one of the creators and owners of Lil Rinser.

Typically, small children get extremely upset in the tub or shower when shampoo, suds and water get into their eyes, ears and even into their mouth. Thus, it is no surprise that children fear hair washing and parents are less than thrilled at the chore. Lil Rinser creates a watertight seal, whose soft rim contours gently to fit a child’s head. Adults merely need to press it gently against the child’s forehead and above the ears to create the water tight seal and then pour an unlimited amount of water onto the child’s head while holding the Lil Rinser gently against the child’s forehead. The soft rim channels the water away from the face and over the head and hair. A convenient and comfortable soft grip handle allows parents to hold the Lil Rinser in place.

Made of firm, yet flexible plastic, Lil Rinser is one size fits all, so parents can purchase just one for the household. It is offered in four fun color combinations – yellow with blue, turquoise with purple, green with orange and purple with dark purple — so kids can choose their favorite colors.

You can get the Lil Rinser Splashguard on Amazon.com and on www.lilrinser.com. It will also soon be available at Target.

For more information about the product or to purchase, visit www.lilrinser.com.

drugstore.com has unveiled a brand-new fashionable collaboration with in demand designer Jenni Kayne. Get the Jenni Kayne designer bag FREE filled with samples of products for baby & mom when you spend $75 at drugstore.com. While supplies last.

Beauty.com has garnered quite a following for its fabulous collaborations with top fashion designers, and now for the first time, sister site drugstore.com is partnering with fashion designer and new mom, Jenni Kayne, who designed a chic, portable bag filled with eco-friendly products for mom and baby. The stylish Mommy Bag, available for a limited time exclusively at drugstore.com with a purchase of $75 or more, is a roomy canvas pouch that Jenni created as a compact yet practical alternative to a more traditional diaper bag.

Kayne, who welcomed her first child Tanner late last year, wanted to create something large enough to store products for a quick outing and small enough to stash tidily into a stroller or slouchy handbag. The washable, durable bag has elasticized pockets for bottles and snacks and offers a reliable way to keep baby travel basics separate and accessible. “When I was pregnant I was looking at diaper bags and thought there should be more options for busy new moms,” says Kayne. “Diaper bags can be so cumbersome and sometimes when you’re going out for a walk or need to run a quick errand with a baby, a giant bag doesn’t make anything easier.”

This functional, fashionable design by Jenni Kayne is one of many unique incentives for customers to save time and money by shopping on drugstore.com for their health, beauty and household products. Moms will receive the stylish Mommy Bag while taking advantage of the convenient bonus features on drugstore.com including automatic shipping and 5% back, helping them in managing a busy schedule and more time to enjoy with their children.

The Jenni Kayne Mommy Bag is valued at over $50 and comes filled with full and deluxe-sized samples for Mom and Baby, many from the drugstore.com Green and Natural store:
