After a recent study by Pediatrics that found that children are at an increased risk for health problems when chemical-laden cleaning products are in the home, your readers may be looking for a solution to cleaning pollution.

Earth Friendly Products, (www.ecos.com) makers of all-natural, green cleaning products for more than 40 years wants to give several lucky parents the chance to makeover their children’s classrooms or dorm rooms with all-natural cleaning products, as part of the company’s continued Safeguard Your Home! campaign.

To enter, simply visit Earth Friendly Products Facebook page, “Like” the page and leave a wall post explaining why the child’s classroom or dorm room can use a free supply of eco-friendly cleaning products from EFP, including:

* ECOS Laundry Detergent
* Dishmate Hand Dishwashing Soap
* Wave Autodishwasher Detergent
* Eco Breeze fabric refresher
* Window Cleaner
* Parsley Plus all-purpose cleaner

This giveaway ends today, so if you really want to enter do it now while it is fresh in your minds before it’s over!

Every Day Household Products Can be Deadly for Children

- Earth Friendly Products urges parents and schools to rethink harsh chemical cleaners at back-to-school time –

Earth Friendly Products (www.ecos.com) urges parents to think about the products they use as they send their kids back to school. Everyday cleaners, those used to launder school uniforms, clean lunch boxes, sanitize school supplies and toys or even freshen the air, contain dangerous, toxic chemicals, many of which are deadly if swallowed. Even the products used to clean school classrooms are harsh chemical cocktails with noxious fumes.

In an ongoing effort to drive awareness of the products that are brought into homes by unsuspecting consumers across the nation, Earth Friendly Products, a leading maker of all-natural, eco-friendly cleaning products, is re-launching its “Safeguard Your Home!” online campaign on the company’s dedicated Facebook page, but with a back-to-school twist. Safeguard Your Home! is a nationwide program to push families to rid their homes of lethal household cleaners and Earth Friendly products is extending the campaign to encourage parents to protect themselves and their children from the health dangers that toxic cleaners pose at schools and in dorm rooms.

To participate in the back-to-school campaign, Earth Friendly Products fans can visit www.facebook.com and “like” Earth Friendly Products. Once a fan, users are encouraged to explain on the Earth Friendly Products wall why their classroom or dorm room needs a green cleaning makeover. Everyone from teachers, students, parents, professors and caregivers are encouraged to tell their stories on Earth
Friendly Products Facebook page. All participants will be entered to win free, full-sized Earth Friendly Products samples. The prize packs include ECOS Laundry Detergent, Dishmate Hand Dishwashing Soap, Wave Autodishwasher Detergent, Eco Breeze, Window Cleaner and Parsley Plus all-purpose cleaner.

“Whether preparing a young adult to go to college or sending a five-year-old off to kindergarten, parents should be aware of the products their children come in contact with on a daily basis,” said Van Vlahakis, CEO of Earth Friendly Products. “Recently it has been reported that cases of children being poisoned by household chemicals has risen and the time has never been more apt to change the way we clean. Avoiding harsh chemicals can also prevent a slew of respiratory ailments, not to mention accidental chemical burns from contact with the skin.”

In August, it was reported by Pediatrics magazine that each year, nearly 12,000 are rushed to the emergency room after ingesting chemicals from household cleaners from ammonia to bleach. For a small, but startling percentage of children, this brief contact with chemical-laden cleaners results in life-threatening symptoms and, in some cases, long-term disabilities. To date, little has been done to change the dangerous compounds that threatened people’s health and the planet and Earth Friendly Products is set to change it.

Readers who would like more information about Earth Friendly Products should visit www.ecos.com .

Fashionable Media Review Policy: The featured product for this review was provided to me, at no cost, by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by monetary compensation.

About Wood Sprite Organic Body

Wood Sprite’s line of Premium Organic Soaps are artfully handmade in small batches using a base of organic olive oil, organic coconut and organic palm oil using the time-honored “cold kettle” method. They utilize whole or organic herbs, aromatherapy grade pure essential oils and exotic nut and fruit oils such as organic sunflower, organic sweet almond, kukui, apricot kernel and grapeseed or rich, nourishing butters such as organic shea, mango, organic cocoa and kokum, which add vital moisturizing properties to the characteristically creamy, luxurious lather of our organic soaps. Wood Sprite organic soaps are unsurpassed for purity, quality and performance. Naturally glycerin-rich, our organic herbal soaps gently cleanse the skin without stripping it of its essential natural oils, leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth and utterly pampered! We use only pure, natural essential oils to scent our soaps and organic herbs or naturally-occurring clays to color them. You will find absolutely NO artificial fragrances, colorants or preservatives in Wood Sprite Organic Soaps. In fact, they use no synthetics or chemicals of any kind and have never used parabens or pthalates in any of their products (for more information on the potentially harmful use of parabens and pthalates in cosmetics, please see the excellent “Think Before You Pink” website, at thinkbeforeyoupink.org). They do not test on animals, and use entirely botanical or mineral ingredients with the exception of only organic honey and beeswax. All of their ingredients are clearly disclosed on their website.

But organic soap is not all they make–they also make an assortment of fine organic spa and body care products, for the the highest quality and purity in organic skin care. For the discerning spagoer, they offer a full line of natural and organic, chemical-free spa products and professional spa treatments which you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home, any day of the week. To complement their organic bath and body lines, they created a special selection of hand-poured Soy Aromatherapy Candles in their signature fresh and fragrant pure essential oil blends to light up your living space and enhance your mood. (Taken from www.WoodSpriteOrganicBody.com

Grapefruit-Mint Gentle Organic Body Wash: We loved the smell of this gentle organic body wash. Grapefruit-Mint may not sound all that appealing but really does smell very nice. It definitely lives up to Wood Sprite’s claim of leaving your skin feeling soft. Our oldest daughter just loves it. It comes in 5 scents and is $14.00 for a 9.5oz bottle.

Get Whipped Vanilla Shea Body Butter: This shea body butter is so nice to have for eczema. Our oldest has had some eczema and it took away some of it that was on her arm and it has since disappeared. We like how it applies, as it is not greasy feeling. I am not sure about the smell yet though. It comes in a nice plastic container and has 4 scents. It is priced at $19.99 for a 3 oz jar.

Sweet Orange Lip Balm: This lip balm is extra special as it has a really great smell – one of the best lip balm scents we have ever smelled – but we love oranges though! It is not greasy nor waxy tasting and is very helpful when you have chapped lips. It comes in 6 scents and is $5.00 for a .15 tube.

Tea Tree Complexion Soap: This soap is so soft it is hard to believe that it has no parabens or any other chemical ingredients. It is has olive oil in it so that makes it extra soft! Our oldest daughter is a huge tester in our family because if she can use a product, then usually it will be good for all of us. She used this on her face and had no problems. She didn’t break out at all, so we are very happy with this soap! It is $9.00 for a 0z bar. This soap is great to combat eczema, psoriasis or acne.

We definitely recommend Wood Sprite Organic Body! It is an added bonus that they are Certified Organic. We love it that they do not use any chemicals in their products. Be sure to check out the rest of their products at www.WoodSpriteOrganicBody.com.

Product Description:

Retail Cost: $13.99

Our official review of the product is via video with my art loving daughter as the main reviewer. One thing she said that she forgot to mention was that it would have been nice to have lighter colors or at least white to make the four colors she had lighter, as she wanted to make a summer daytime scene, but had to make a night scene. She also would have liked to have black. Now, she has white and black in her other paint supplies but we chose to stick with using only the Clementine Art product we were provided with for her art project.

My oldest daughter reported that the paint containers seemed to tip over easily so with younger children it might be best to have an adult helping. My three oldest did it themselves. They are pretty responsible.

Editor’s Note: One other observation that the girls made was that the colors do not dry true to the color that they appear. They dry a lighter shade of the color. This happened when they dried their pictures inside and outside in the sun.

Here’s the video, just click on the link and Quick Time will open it for you. Depending upon your internet speed it could take up to 30 seconds to load:

GreenEnvy Nail Polish

Fashionable Media Review Policy: The featured product for this review was provided to me, at no cost, by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by monetary compensation.

Most girls and women enjoy painting their nails. My girls and I are no different. We like having pretty nails and toe nails! I don’t know if it is all in our heads or what, but it makes us feel pretty. The thing is my husband can’t stand the smell of nail polish. So summertime is about the only time we wear it.

We were presented the opportunity to try nail polish from GreenEnvy. We picked Iced Plum as our color. Love the light pinks. I have had mine on for about a week and have found that it hasn’t chipped nearly as bad as other brands have and has just started to show wear especially since my nails are growing leaving a space between the nail polish and cuticle! GreenEnvy nail polish seems to hold up well even after washing lots of dishes, at least better than other brands, so that is a plus.

What surprised us was the fact that even though this nail polish is suppose to be a green beauty product for the eco-trendy generation, it still has a strong odor resembling that of regular brands. So I am not sure what that ingredient is, but it smells!

Here is what the product descriptions says:

All GreenEnvy nail lacquers are made in the USA and do NOT contain harsh chemical like Toluene, Formaldehyde nor Dibutyl Phthalate.

I am very curious to know what is causing the odor. Other than the odor, I am quite pleased with the product and really like the color. I don’t find that the photos above are a true representation of the actual color though and remember computer screens can make colors seem different from what they really are.

Those of you fashionistas in the New York area or planning a trip to New York before November 13, 2010 have the opportunity to attend FIT Museum’s Eco-Fashion Display. The Museum at FIT is said to be, “The Most Fashionable Museum in New York City”. And it really sounds like it would be a great exhibit to see! I know if we were in New York, my daughter would be begging for us to attend!

This video is about the “Going Green” special fashion exhibit. I know many of us desire to support and learn more about the advances in eco-fashion. Going to see the “Eco-Fashion: Going Green” exhibit at FIT Museum in New York is one way to not only support eco-fashion, but learn about it as well. According to Afingo, the exhibit goes into the history of eco-fashion and the relationship fashion has with the environment – both the good and bad.

Without further adieu, here is a video, thanks to Afingo’s newsletter for sharing about this seemingly rare fashion event:

Take a look at a few of these photos too:

Here’s a link to a more detailed press release, with additional information and photos!

Afingo list’s the address to the museum as:

The Museum at FIT | 7th Avenue | New York, NY 10001

The hours as:

Tuesday-Friday–noon-8 pm; Saturday–10 am-5 pm

Celebrity Mom Kourtney Kardashian decorated her celebrity bambino Mason’s room with eco-friendly and sustainable furniture from Bloom. The product descriptions and photos are compliments of www.GeniusJones.com and their Bloom product selection.

Eco Friendly Wicker Market Bag from five ACCESSORIES

July 3rd, 2010 by Theresa Gould

I have sort of become a handbag junkie of late, not necessarily a bad thing either. It’s actually quite fun! One of the new ones I recently acquired is the eco friendly Wicker Market bag from five ACCESSORIES. While it isn’t as large as I thought it would be, should have looked at the dimensions (11 1/4″ wide by 3″ deep by 16″ tall (including handles) on the description a bit more closely, it is still a wonderful medium sized bag. It really isn’t large enough to serve as an all day diaper bag, but for short jaunts a travel pack of wipes and a couple of diapers would fit into it, along with a few other small mom/baby items.

I’ve always loved wicker and this handbag is classic. It can be used as an accessory to a casual outfit or a fun summer outing with a nice sundress. I used it this past week when I went out. I wore a basic maternity top in cream color and a red skirt that has cream/olive flower print and thought the Wicker Market bag was a perfect match for my outfit and where I was going. Isn’t funny how little things like accessories and what we wear can change the way we feel? It’s a good thing, isn’t it?

The one thing this eco friendly handbag does not have that I like is an inside pocket. The inside is all open in its cloth lining and draw string closure top. It has sturdy handles, but I wouldn’t let my the kids toss it around or sit on it because of the delicate design on the outside could be broken in rough handling. Yes, children can do the darndest things sometimes and often without even thinking.

This fashionable bag retails for a whopping $75! However, as with all five’s handbags and accessories $5.00 from each handbag or 15% of accessory sales gives back to charity. In the case of the Wicker Market bag, the donations go to school children in Bali. five ACCESSORIES supports five different countries in their charitable contributions.

Even though I did not receive this handbag in exchange for a review, I was in touch with five ACCESSORIES and they are willing to offer our readers a discount code TFB20 for a 20% off of orders $25 or more! Offer good thru August 31, 2010.

Oh and if you are an eBay shopper, five ACCESSORIES does have some of their items listed on World of Good by eBay too. Please note: only the small wicker handbag is available on World of Good.
